Authenticity Proof Guidelines
Want to check a part before ordering? This guide explains what evidence may be available, how to read it, and what to send us if you need help confirming a part or its fitment.
Start with the part number, packaging details, and clear photos. Evidence varies by product and supplier, so we explain exactly what we can verify for each request.
Ask us to check a part
Quick authenticity check
Review several details together. A label, logo, or box on its own cannot confirm the origin of a part.
Match the part number
Compare the number on the part or packaging with the number in the listing, catalog reference, or our written confirmation.
Inspect the product details
Look at visible markings, connector shape, dimensions, finish, and other features relevant to that part.
Review packaging and codes
Check labels, barcodes, batch or lot codes, seals, and origin markings where present. Packaging can differ between markets and batches.
Evidence that may be available
Tell us what you want checked. Depending on stock status, supplier records, and the product, we may be able to share:
| Evidence | What it can help check | What it does not prove by itself |
|---|---|---|
| Part number and product markings | Whether visible identifiers match the requested or listed part | That the item is genuine or fits every version of a vehicle |
| Packaging, barcode, batch or lot code | Whether package details are consistent and can be reviewed with the supplier | Origin or authenticity without a reliable reference or traceable record |
| Supplier invoice or sourcing record | Purchase trail or source information, where disclosure is possible | Manufacturer certification; private commercial details may be obscured |
| Catalog or manufacturer reference | Part number description and, in some cases, application information | That the physical item in a photo is the item described by that reference |
| Current photos of the actual item | Visible condition, shape, labels, and markings when available | Hidden specifications, internal condition, or independent certification |
Some parts arrive in plain packaging, carry market-specific labels, or are supplied as OEM replacement parts. We will state what the evidence confirms and what remains unverified.
Examples: what a useful check looks like
You need a spark plug with a specific part number. Send your vehicle details and requested number. We can compare any available package and plug markings with the request and explain whether the match is visible. Vehicle fitment should still be confirmed separately.
A filter label shows a code that differs from the product title. Share a sharp photo of the full label and the filter itself. We can check the code against the listing or supplier reference and clarify whether the difference is a variant, supersession, or mismatch before you order.
The item is not currently in our warehouse. We may need to request evidence from the supplier. We will tell you which photos or documents are available and whether they show the actual item, a catalog image, or a packaging example.
What to include in your request
Use the Parts on Demand inquiry page and include:
- Product link or exact part name
- Part number, if known, and the specific concern you want checked
- Vehicle make, model, year, engine, trim, and chassis code or VIN when relevant
- Your delivery country, if requesting a sourced part
- Photos of any label, package, or marking you already have
- Open the inquiry page and share the part and vehicle details.
- Tell us whether you need a part-number check, fitment check, or available authenticity evidence.
- We will review what is available and explain any limits before you decide.
Need help with a specific part?
Send the details and ask us what proof can be checked before ordering.
When your order arrives
- Before installation, compare the delivered part and visible markings with the details confirmed for your order.
- If something appears different, pause installation and keep the part and packaging together.
- Contact support with your order number and clear photos of the item, labels, packaging, and the difference you noticed.
We will review the information and advise you on the next steps under the applicable store policies.
Frequently asked questions
Can photos alone prove that a part is genuine?
No. Photos can show visible details, but they may not verify a product’s source, internal condition, or authenticity independently. We will describe what each image or record supports.
Can you provide a certificate of authenticity?
Only if a relevant certificate is actually supplied and available for that product. We will not label ordinary packaging or supplier paperwork as a manufacturer certificate.
Why can packaging look different?
Packaging may vary by production batch, destination market, supplier, or packaging update. Ask us to review a specific difference before ordering if it concerns you.
Does a matching part number guarantee vehicle fitment?
No. Vehicle applications can vary by year, engine, trim, production date, and market. Provide complete vehicle details so fitment can be checked separately.
What if the product is sourced after I order?
Evidence may depend on the supplier and whether the exact item is in stock. We will clarify whether any image is of the actual item or only a reference example.
Should I send my full VIN?
Share chassis or VIN details only when needed to confirm the correct application, and use the inquiry form or support channel. Do not send payment card information.
